Legacy Story – West Liberty Nursing and Rehabilitation: Mary Harper
March 3, 2021West Liberty Nursing and Rehabilitation is proud to spotlight resident, Mary Harper.
Mary Harper was born and raised in Indiana where she started school at the age of 6 years old and completed the 7th grade.
Growing up and even up into her adulthood, she didn’t have the luxury of washer and dryers. Her family washed their clothes in automatic washer and had to hang their clothes on a clothes line. In the winter time, they would hang them in the house or anywhere to get them dry.
During her childhood up until the present, Mary notes that there have always been tough times as well as good times. Prices of the necessities of everyday living wasn’t much different then from what it is now because the money value and cost of living was the only thing that changed.
Mary married at the age of 30 and had 3 children. She now has 2 grandchildren. Mary took care of seniors in their homes for a living. She dreamed of finishing school and joining the Army.
What one thing she would like to leave her family with? Mary says to always do your best and that she will always be proud of you and the life she chose.
We’re thankful for Mary sharing her story!
